Flooding

We swore two years ago that we would avoid the drive from Colorado to the East coast after a 5-hour traffic jam in Indiana in 104 degree weather with no AC. And it was Indiana that got us again. We had to take a three hour detour because the roads were closed due to the worst flooding in 137 years. Twelve hours straight of driving through rain and our van was soaked--- yet this was still a much better trip than the last cross-country thanks to Jen and her gang letting us crash at the midway point in Iowa City.

First Fourteener

We drive to Breckenridge to sell a laptop and decide to tackle a life objective while we are in the area and climb a Colorado fourteener. If you are not from Colorada, a fourteener is a mountain peak that is at least 14,000 ft high and people make a big deal about climbing one. If you climb anything less than 14,000 ft you just went on a little hike. Mt. Quandary is a class 1 beginners trek- nonetheless the elevation is 14,265 feet, so it counts to people who are counting.

Left at about 5:30am.

A fellow hiker coming down the trail. Mountain courtesy allows the guy coming down the right of way, so we stepped to the side.
