If a filmmaker ever needs to portray an Arab country they head to Morocco. Babel, Gladiator, The Mummy, Sahara,The Sheltering Sky, Black Hawk Down, Seven Years in Tibet, Alexander, Lawrence of Arabia, Othello, Cleopatra, The Message, and The Hills Have Eyes II were all filmed in the southern region of Morocco. We visited one of the movie studios and saw several old sets and props abandoned in the countryside.
